Ross

I believe the answer is:

defamatory

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'slanderous' is the definition.
(I know that slanderous can be written as defamatory)

'famed for converting a politician?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
an anagram of 'famed' is 'defam' which is within the answer.
'for' could be 'to' (eg both can mean 'in the opinion of') and 'to' is present in the answer.
'a' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for defamatory that I've seen before include "abusive" , "Libellous" , "Calumnious" , "slanderous" , "Damaging to good reputation" .)

I've seen this clue in The Daily Express.
