Crossword Genius

Florence perhaps, a tuneful singer in Berkeley Square

Ross

I believe the answer is:

nightingale

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'florence' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'a tuneful singer in berkeley square' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'a' is present in the answer.
'in' is present in the answer.
'square' could be 't' (a T-Square is a technical drawing instrument) and 't' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'perhaps' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for nightingale that I've seen before include "Noted songbird" , "See 17" , "Singer appearing every season" , "one tweets" , "The Lady with the Lamp, d. 1910" .)

I've seen this clue in The Daily Mail.
