I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'gander' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'cuckoo kestrel two ducks but no tern oddly' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'ducks' could be 'oo' (two O's - duck means zero in cricket) and 'oo' is located in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for look-see that I've seen before include "Survey, inspection" , "Inspection (colloq.)" , "Young's - relates stress and strain (Physics)" , "Brief inspection" , "Dekko" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
