Home is the place to be broody (4)
I believe the answer is:
nest
'home' is the definition.
(a bird's home)
'the place to be broody' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'the' could be 't' (the is pronounced as a 't' sound in some dialects) and 't' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'nes' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'is' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for nest that I've seen before include "Robin's home" , "Cosy place" , "home for 22d [VIPERS]" , "Structure built by birds" , "Den" .)
