Crossword Genius

Is following order about right latticework (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

trellis

'latticework' is the definition.
(I know that trellis is a type of latticework)

'is following order about right' is the wordplay.
'is following' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'order' becomes 'ellis' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'about' says the letters should be written in reverse.
'right' becomes 'rt' (abbreviation as in Rt Hon- the Right Honourable).
'rt' in reverse letter order is 'tr'.
'ellis' after 'tr' is 'TRELLIS'.

(Other definitions for trellis that I've seen before include "Arch of latticework" , "Rose clambers over this" , "Light framework for climbing plants" , "where climbers may be trained" , "garden equipment" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
