Ross

I believe the answer is:

sight

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'lot' is the definition.
(I know that lot can be written as sight)

'samson lost it' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'it' could be 't' (abbreviation. e.g. in 'tis) and 't' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'sigh' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'and' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for sight that I've seen before include "A great many" , "Bodily faculty" , "Spot - eyesore" , "Vista" , "something to behold" .)

I've seen this clue in The Sunday Times.
