Crossword Genius

Make a fuss then keep going (5,2)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

carry on

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'keep going' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'make a fuss then' is the wordplay.
'make' becomes 'carry' (carrying is a kind of making).
'a fuss then' becomes 'on' (I can't explain this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'carry'+'on'='CARRY-ON'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for carry on that I've seen before include "wage, or > make a fuss?" , "Have an affair - cause a fuss - continue" , "film series" , "Continue - make a fuss" , "play around" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
