Crossword Genius

One of The Blades from Farm Aid? (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

sickle

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This might be a double definition.

'one of the blades' is the first definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't see how one could define the other.

'farm aid?' is the second definition.
The definition and answer can be both man-made objects as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'from' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for sickle that I've seen before include "Grass-cutting implement" , "Reaping-hook" , "Reaping hook" , "Cutting tool with short handle and curved blade" , "One stands for Communist" .)

I've seen this clue in The Irish Times and the Irish Times (Crosaire).
