Crossword Genius

Sycophants succeeded in Asian country (3-3)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

yes men

'sycophants' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'succeeded in asian country' is the wordplay.
'succeeded' becomes 's' (genealogical abbreviation).
'in' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'asian country' becomes 'Yemen' (country in Asia).
's' put within 'yemen' is 'YES-MEN'.

(Other definitions for yes men that I've seen before include "Tools" , "Willing conformers" , "Toadies" , "They always agree with a superior" , "They follow orders" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
