Crossword Genius

Taking off coat in Swansea, turning it upward (10)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

satirising

'taking off' is the definition.
(take off can mean to mock or satirise)

'coat in swansea turning it upward' is the wordplay.
'coat in' means to remove the middle letters (outside letters form the 'coat' of the word).
'turning' says the letters should be written backwards.
'upward' becomes 'rising' (going up).
'swansea' with its middle taken out is 'sa'.
'it' reversed gives 'ti'.
'sa'+'ti'+'rising'='SATIRISING'

(Another definition for satirising that I've seen is " Making fun of".)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
