I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'the place' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both related to thinking as well as being singular nouns.
Perhaps they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'we may arrive at where there is no way back' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'at' could be 'in' (synonymous in some cases - eg at school, in school) and 'in' is found in the answer.
'no' could be 'o' (O resembles 0) and 'o' is located in the answer.
'way' could be 'r' (abbreviation for right) and 'r' is found within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for point of no return that I've seen before include "After which one can't go back" , "Crucial moment" , "ace played?" , "after which one's committed?" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
