I believe the answer is:

traipse

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'walk wearily' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'individual assuming regressive role on empty stage' is the wordplay.
'individual' becomes 'i' (Roman numeral for one).
'assuming' is an insertion indicator (assume can mean to take on).
'regressive' says the letters should be written in reverse (to regress is to go backwards).
'role' becomes 'part' (eg a part or role in a film).
'on empty stage' becomes 'se' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'part' back-to-front is 'trap'.
'i' placed inside 'trap' is 'traip'.
'traip'+'se'='TRAIPSE'

'towards' is the link.
I am not very happy about this link. It may belong to another bit of the clue.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for traipse that I've seen before include "Trudge around" , "Parties (anag.)" , "Plod - trek" , "Tedious walk" , "Walk about wearily" .)

I've seen this clue in The Irish Times.
