homeric

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'describing classic story in full? not quite' is the definition.
I can't tell whether this defines the answer.

'in full? not quite' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'in' could be 'home' ('he's in' can mean 'he's home') and 'home' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ric' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for homeric that I've seen before include "Imposing" , "Such epic style" , "of old poet" , "In style of, eg, the Iliad" , "Large-scale" .)
