Spirits chant with wings the wrong way round (4)
I believe the answer is:
gins
'spirits' is the definition.
(gin is an alcoholic spirit)
'chant with wings the wrong way round' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'way' could be 's' (Compass direction - South) and 's' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'gin' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for gins that I've seen before include "Sings badly for drinks" , "Drinks; traps" , "Alcoholic drinks" .)
