A biscuit for the break? (7)
I believe the answer is:
cracker
'a biscuit' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'the break?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'break?' could be 'crack' (crack is a kind of break) and 'crack' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'er' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'for' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for cracker that I've seen before include "Bonbon" , "exceptional" , "regularly featured at Christmas" , "Thin biscuit or loud party favourite" , "Christmas table item" .)
