A game to stick at (7)
I believe the answer is:
pontoon
'a game' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'to stick at' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'to' is within the answer.
'at' could be 'on' (location) and 'on' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'pon' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for pontoon that I've seen before include "Bridge of boats" , "Lighter" , "Half of 1D [GAME OR BIRD]" , "Card game; float" , "Card-game" .)
