Ross

I believe the answer is:

aboard

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'a group of bosses ready to travel?' is the definition.
I can't tell whether this definition defines the answer.

'bosses ready to travel?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'bosses' could be 'board' (board of directors) and 'board' is located in the answer.
A single letter 'a' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for aboard that I've seen before include "On vessel or vehicle" , "on base" , "On (a ship, train, etc)" , "Embarked on (a ship)" , "'On a ship or train, say (6)'" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
