Crossword Genius

A 'one-note' Dohnanyi piece (3)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

doh

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'piece' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both related to communication as well as being singular nouns.
Perhaps they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'a one-note dohnanyi' is the wordplay.
'a one note' becomes 'do' (musical note, as in do-re-mi).
'dohnanyi' becomes 'h' (I can't explain this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'do'+'h'='DOH'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for doh that I've seen before include "Tonic (mus.)" , "annoyed expression" , "First and eighth note in tonic sol-fa" , "Silly me!" , "acknowledgment of stupidity" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
