Crossword Genius

A trip, fair as can be (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

safari

'a trip' is the definition.
(I have seen 'tropical trip' mean 'safari' so perhaps 'trip' could also mean 'safari')

'fair as can be' is the wordplay.
'can be' indicates anagramming the letters.
'fair'+'as'='fairas'
'fairas' with letters rearranged gives 'SAFARI'.

(Other definitions for safari that I've seen before include "African hunting expedition" , "Expedition to observe animals" , "Animal expedition" , "Hunting expedition (in Africa)" , "A journey to see or hunt wild animals" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
