I cannot really see how this works, but
'performing' could be 'on' (as in being on stage) and 'on' is found in the answer.
'not' could be 'o' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'o' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
(Another definition for on top of that I've seen is " In addition to".)
