Almost cover up the debris from the cliff (5)
I believe the answer is:
scree
'debris from the cliff' is the definition.
'scree' can be an answer for 'debris' (thesaurus). I am not sure about the 'from the cliff' bit.
I don't understand how the remainder of the clue works.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for scree that I've seen before include "Loose shifting stones" , "Steep, stony slope" , "Loose stones on mountain slope" , "Sloping mass of loose rock at the base of a cliff" , "Mass of loose rocks at the base of a cliff" .)
