Ross

I believe the answer is:

guinness

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'this may get drunk' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't understand how one could define the other.

'around hostelry suppose' is the wordplay.
'around' indicates putting letters inside.
'hostelry' becomes 'inn' (synonyms).
'suppose' becomes 'guess' (synonyms).
'inn' put into 'guess' is 'GUINNESS'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for guinness that I've seen before include "A bitter stout" , "Irish stout" , "Dark drink said to be good for you" , "The black stuff" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
