Back to front, managed to enter expensive bar (5)
I believe the answer is:
ingot
'expensive bar' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'back to front managed to enter' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'managed' could be 'got' (both can mean achieved or secured) and 'got' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'in' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for ingot that I've seen before include "A lump of metal like gold" , "Mass of metal, especially gold or silver" , "E.g. a gold bar" , "Piece of precious metal" , "Cast metal brick" .)
