Be inclined to slip quietly away (5)
I believe the answer is:
slope
'be inclined' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'slip quietly away' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'quietly' could be 'p' (p for piano and quiet) and 'p' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'sloe' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'to' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for slope that I've seen before include "See 28" , "Rake; Barchester chaplain" , "A rise, possibly" , "Poles for gradient" , "Inclination" .)
