Be on point duty (4,5)
I believe the answer is:
keep score
'be' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their base form, I don't understand how one could define the other.
'point duty' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'point' could be 'core' (core is a kind of point) and 'core' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'keeps' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'on' is the link.
