Crossword Genius

Bearing left for JFK? (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

airport

'jfk?' is the definition.
(John F Kennedy International Airport)

'bearing left' is the wordplay.
'bearing' becomes 'air' (both can mean an attitude or pose).
'left' becomes 'port' (left side of a ship - opposite of starboard).
'air'+'port'='AIRPORT'

'for' is the link.

(Other definitions for airport that I've seen before include "Destination for planes" , "passenger terminal" , "Place from which to fly" , "E.g. Prestwick, Gatwick" , "Novel by Arthur Hailey" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
