Beat after working out (2,6)
I believe the answer is:
on strike
'out' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'beat after working' is the wordplay.
'beat' becomes 'strike' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'after' says to put letters next to each other.
'working' becomes 'on'.
'strike' put after 'on' is 'ON STRIKE'.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for on strike that I've seen before include "Taking industrial action" , "Facing a ball" , "Refusing to work" , "Involved in industrial action" .)
