Being fixated with what Europe used to be is odd (9)
I believe the answer is:
eccentric
'to be is odd' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'being fixated with what europe' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'europe' could be 'ec' and 'ec' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'centric' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'used' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for eccentric that I've seen before include "Idiosyncratic, odd" , "Wacky" , "Quirky" , "Bizarre" , "Offbeat" .)
