Bloody chap's a cad! (7)
I believe the answer is:
bleeder
'a cad' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both people as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe you can see a link between them that I can't see?
'bloody chap's' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'bloody' could be 'b' (as a swear word it might be censored as 'b-----') and 'b' is present in the answer.
'chap' could be 'lee' and 'lee' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'der' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
I've seen this clue in The Independent.
