Botha's back-tracking dodge? (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

skip

'dodge?' is the definition.
(skip can mean to avoid or dodge)

'botha's back-tracking' is the wordplay.
'botha's' becomes 'pik's' (South African politician Pik Botha).
'back-tracking' says the letters should be written in reverse.
'piks' reversed gives 'SKIP'.

(Other definitions for skip that I've seen before include "Miss - waste container" , "Large container for rubbish" , "Intentionally fail to attend" , "Container used to collect and dump waste" , "leave something out" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
