Ross

I believe the answer is:

ocelot

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This clue might be a double definition.

'catty owner' is the first definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot understand how one could define the other.

'beautiful coat' is the second definition.
The definition and answer can be both animals as well as being singular nouns.
Perhaps you can see a link between them that I can't see?

'of a' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for ocelot that I've seen before include "Spotted New World feline" , "Feline mammal" , "Small leopardlike cat" , "Nocturnal wild cat of Central and South America" , "Animal in the loo etc." .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
