Caught out as an Oxford type misplaced? (5-6)
I believe the answer is:
wrong-footed
'misplaced?' is the definition.
Both the definition and answer are adjectives.
Maybe you can see a link between them that I don't see?
'caught out as an oxford type' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'out' could be 'wrong' (I've seen this before) and 'wrong' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'footed' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
I've seen this clue in The Times.
