Checking around hotel when dining? (7)
I believe the answer is:
noshing
'dining?' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both related to consumption as well as being present participle verbs.
Perhaps they are linked in a way I don't understand?
'checking around hotel' is the wordplay.
'checking' becomes 'nosing' (I can't explain this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'around' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'hotel' becomes 'h' (phonetic alphabet: alpha, bravo, charlie etc.).
'nosing' placed around 'h' is 'NOSHING'.
'when' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for noshing that I've seen before include "Eating (slang)" , "Eating (sl.)" .)
