Confuses the first corners (7)
I believe the answer is:
tangles
'confuses' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their -s form, I cannot understand how one could define the other.
'the first corners' is the wordplay.
'the first' becomes 't' (1st letter of 'the').
'corners' becomes 'angles' (I've seen this before).
't'+'angles'='TANGLES'
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for tangles that I've seen before include "Sent gal (anag.)" , "Knots" .)
