Contaminate home, leaving rubbish round (5)
I believe the answer is:
taint
'contaminate' is the definition.
(I know that taint is a type of contaminate)
'home leaving rubbish round' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'home' could be 'in' ('he's home' can mean 'he's in') and 'in' is located in the answer.
'rubbish' could be 'tat' (low-quality items or material) and 'tat' is found in the leftover letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for taint that I've seen before include "Corrupt" , "Rot, spoil, define" , "(Trace of) corruption" , "Contaminate, pollute" , "Flaw in Titan" .)
