Crooked pens I bind around to hold your horses (2,7)
I believe the answer is:
be patient
'to hold your horses' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'crooked pens i bind' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'i' could be 'a' and 'a' is present in the answer.
'bind' could be 'tie' (synonyms) and 'tie' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'around' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
