Cross-country runner passing through Paris (5)
I believe the answer is:
seine
'cross-country runner' is the definition.
'seine' can be an answer for 'runner' (Seine is an example). I am not sure about the 'cross-country' bit.
'passing through paris' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'through' could be 'in' and 'in' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'see' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for seine that I've seen before include "Second longest river in France" , "Paris's river" , "Parisian river" , "French river -- type of fishing net" , "Paris river" .)
