Cry of a bird, having seen a scary figure? (3)
I believe the answer is:
caw
'cry of a bird' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'seen a scary figure?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'figure?' could be 'c' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'c' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'aw' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'having' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for caw that I've seen before include "Cry of a rook" , "Crow utterance" , "Sound made by a crow, say" , "Rook's cry" , "Call like rook" .)
