Cut, removing a slight amount! (4)
I believe the answer is:
slit
'cut' is the definition.
(similar in meaning)
'removing a slight amount' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'amount' could be 'li' (li is a kind of amount) and 'li' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'st' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for slit that I've seen before include "Narrow aperture" , "Incision" , "Narrow straight cut or opening" , "Long narrow cut" , "Long narrow opening" .)
