Crossword Genius

Dance, drink and get a bad head (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

rumba

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'dance' is the definition.
(I know that rumba is a type of dance)

'drink and get a bad head' is the wordplay.
'drink' becomes 'rum' (rum is a kind of drink).
'and get' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'a bad head' becomes 'ba' (I can't explain this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'rum'+'ba'='RUMBA'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for rumba that I've seen before include "Ballroom dance of Cuban origin" , "Caribbean dance" , "Umbra (anag)" , "number of steps" , "Strictly round" .)

I've seen this clue in The Globe and Mail.
