Deliver key, entering street abroad (6)
I believe the answer is:
rescue
'deliver' is the definition.
(I know that deliver can be written as rescue)
'key entering street abroad' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'key' could be 'esc' ('Escape' key on a computer keyboard) and 'esc' is located in the answer.
'street' could be 'rue' (I have seen 'French street ' mean 'rue' so perhaps 'street' could also mean 'rue') and 'rue' is present in the remaining letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for rescue that I've seen before include "Retrieve" , "Deliver from danger" , "liberation" , "Salvage" , "Free someone from trouble" .)
