Did little after I'd made the running (5)
I believe the answer is:
idled
'did little' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'after i'd made the running' is the wordplay.
'after' says to put letters next to each other.
'made the running' becomes 'led' (I can't explain this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'id' put next to 'led' is 'IDLED'.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for idled that I've seen before include "was unoccupied" , "Of engine, just ticked over" , "Wasted time" , "sat back" , "Turned over" .)
