Disconcerting, having shot on green imminent? (3-7)
I believe the answer is:
off-putting
'disconcerting' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'shot on green imminent?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'shot' could be 'putting' (putting is a kind of shot) and 'putting' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'off' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'having' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for off-putting that I've seen before include "Disconcerting" , "Discouraging" .)
