Divine archer wins trophy on instincts (5)
I believe the answer is:
cupid
'divine archer' is the definition.
'cupid' can be an answer for 'archer' (I've seen this before). I'm unsure of the 'divine' bit.
'wins trophy on instincts' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'trophy' could be 'cup' (cup is a kind of trophy) and 'cup' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'id' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for cupid that I've seen before include "Boy with wings, bow, arrow" , "Boy symbol of love" , "naked boy" , "Roman god of love, child archer" , "Blind god" .)
