Dodged heartless enemies, like Batman? (7)
I believe the answer is:
escaped
'dodged' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both to do with communicating as well as being past participle verbs.
Perhaps they are linked in a way I don't understand?
'heartless enemies like batman?' is the wordplay.
'heartless' means to remove the middle letters.
'like batman?' becomes 'caped' (I've seen this in another clue).
'enemies' with its middle taken out is 'es'.
'es'+'caped'='ESCAPED'
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for escaped that I've seen before include "Got away from captors" , "gone!" , "Ran away from confinement" , "Fled from captivity" , "Got away, broke loose" .)
