Down-to-earth measures (4)
I believe the answer is:
feet
'measures' is the definition.
(I know this)
'down-to-earth' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'earth' could be 'e' and 'e' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'fet' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for feet that I've seen before include "Metrical units" , "Paws" , "Unit used to measure" , "Imperial units of length" , "Base supports" .)
