I believe the answer is:

beggar

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'exhaust' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both to do with ownership as well as being verbs in their base form.
Perhaps they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'horse during show' is the wordplay.
'horse' becomes 'gg' (geegee or GG is a childish term for a horse).
'during' indicates putting letters inside.
'show' becomes 'bear' (I've seen this before).
'gg' inserted into 'bear' is 'BEGGAR'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for beggar that I've seen before include "Pauper or supplicant" , "One lives by asking for money or food" , "Seeker of alms" , "Pauper who lives by soliciting" , "Not a chooser, they say" .)
