Crossword Genius

Famous musician, delightful pantomime character (6,8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

prince charming

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'pantomime character' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both people as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe there's a link between them I don't understand?

'famous musician delightful' is the wordplay.
'famous musician' becomes 'prince' (US musician. I am not sure about the 'famous' bit.).
'delightful' becomes 'charming' (I've seen this before).
'prince'+'charming'='PRINCE CHARMING'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Another definition for prince charming that I've seen is " Dishy bloke".)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
