Female guard of honour (8)
I believe the answer is:
chaperon
'female guard' is the definition.
'chaperon' can be an answer for 'guard' (thesaurus). I'm unsure of the 'female' bit.
'of honour' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'of' could be 'o' and 'o' is present in the answer.
'honour' could be 'ch' and 'ch' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

(Other definitions for chaperon that I've seen before include "One accompanies the vulnerable" , "One accompanies and looks after another person or group" , "Attendant" , "Preach on about older woman in charge of girl" , "One who accompanies and supervises" .)
