Food ending on bun, hundreds and thousands (7)
I believe the answer is:
noodles
'food' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'and thousands' is the wordplay.
'and' becomes 'n' (common abbreviation for 'and').
'thousands' becomes 'oodles' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should believe this answer much more).
'n'+'oodles'='NOODLES'
'ending on bun hundreds' is the link.
I am not very happy about this link. Some or all of it may belong to another bit of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for noodles that I've seen before include "Oriental pasta" , "Pasta ribbons" , "Egg pasta; simpletons" , "Thin strips of pasta for old ones" , "Fools; pasta" .)
